Location: Yuba Lake in Utah (~1.5 hours south of Salt Lake City)
If you’re looking for a dog-friendly beach that’s only 1.5 hours away from Salt Lake, Sandy Beach at Yuba Lake has just become my top recommendation! I almost hesitate to share this cool spot cause we had such an amazing time there and I don’t think too many people know about it yet!
WHAT IS SANDY BEACH AT YUBA LAKE?
I first heard about Sandy Beach at Yuba Lake when I was searching for a place to do a quick trip with my dog to take a break from work & connect with nature. As soon as I saw the glamping tents and beach/water access I was sold! I called my friend & we booked and were on the road within a couple of hours. Besides the cozy glamping tent we stayed at, they also had available:

House with Heated Pool & Hot Tub
THINGS TO DO AT YUBA LAKE
When we went we knew the weather wasn’t on our side, so we didn’t get to experience all the cool water adventures, but we DID get in some awesome stargazing at night! They also have rentals available for:
- Jet Skis
- Paddleboards
- Kayaks
We also woke up early to watch the sun rise & had a blast watching our dogs run & play on the beach!
RECOMMENDATIONS TO PACK FOR YOUR PUP
I definitely want to create a full dog packing list later of what I take for my pups, but here’s a few specific ones I took for this trip.
Dog Kibble Carrier from Kurgo
I love packing the dog’s kibble in this pouch whenever I travel. I used to use a million plastic ziplock bags, but honestly this is so much better. It packs up to 5lbs of dry food and has a top buckle closure that’s super easy to use.
Dog Cot
Even though the glamping tents allow dogs, I still like giving my dog his own place that he’s familiar with & hangs out on instead of the beds or floor. I have a cot similar to this one, and I’m linking this one from Amazon cause it has great reviews and seems easy to pack up for travel!
Dog Towels
Definitely take some towels specifically for the dogs cause if they’re like mine they’re going to love playing in the water, but will soak up & smell later! I haven’t used these exact ones from Amazon, but I’m about to order some for next trip to help get them drier!
Doggy Poop Bags
We all love poop-free sandy beaches! Don’t forget to take plenty of doggy poop bags to be responsible dog owners & clean up after bathroom trips!
RECOMMENDATIONS TO PACK FOR YOUR PUP
While we were on the trip we were already planning on when we could come back with our whole friend group and rent one of the larger sites or cabana! We 100% LOVED the experience, the host that led us to our campsite was amazing & they even gave me a call as soon as I left to let me know I forgot my bag!
I absolutely love how close + convenient this trip was and want to explore a bit more next time I come and take Leo out on the water!
