Foster Dog Stories
Below is a collection of photos from dogs that passed through our house while being fosters on their journey to finding their forever homes! Many of these dogs had euthanasia deadlines that we were able to rescue them from, and all of these dogs were 100% good dogs that just needed a second chance to find their humans.
Gelato
I started fostering this min-husky, Gelato, as a last-minute decision and he was a lovely, chaotic adventure. He was a spunky 6-month old puppy that loved to run and play with Leo and had the cutest tippy-tap happy dance. After 3 weeks of living with us, he found his forever home and now lives with his very own full-sized husky and goes on lots of hiking adventures with his human.
Tucker
The first day I met Tucker, he was inside a kennel at the shelter with his big brown eyes begging me to take him home. When I took him out, he was going nuts bouncing back and forth in the small visiting room. I took him home to foster for a few weeks until we found him a more permanent foster home. After a couple of months, he was adopted and he now has his very own 2 humans to explore Utah with.
Riley
Riley was a last-minute foster decision. We had JUST found Cinnamon’s forever home, and one of our rescue friends was going to pick up a dog from the shelter to bring to foster. She sent me a message about the huge number of huskies that were in that shelter, and I couldn’t say no. Riley was adopted once and quickly returned. At first I was confused and felt like I failed her, but it just wasn’t the right humans for her. Shortly after, I was walking her at a winter festival and she found an amazing family that fell in love and she quickly got adopted. She now lives with 2 fur-siblings and a human sibling too!
Cinnamon
Cinnamon quickly lost her foster home when she went after a foster’s bird, so she ended up at my house. Leo (my husky) is also fond of catching birds, so the two got along very well. Cinnamon was a very good girl during her foster stay with us, she practiced her howls with Leo, was happy to pose for Christmas photos in trade for advent calendar treats, and ran around with our dogs in the snow. After 2.5 weeks, she found her perfect humans and now lives with her husky brother and gets to do all the fun outdoor adventures.
Logan
I didn’t meet Logan until he had already spent 3 days in my home. He had a euthanasia date and we had family coming to stay at our house, so saving him in time was a tag-team effort along with my husband. He was only about a year old and we knew nothing about him other than he needed to be rescued. Luckily for us, Logan was the PERFECT foster dog. He got along with Leo so well that I strongly considered foster failing him, but looking back now- the family he’s at was perfect for him. It was always meant to be!
Nala & Sarabi
Nala & Sarabi were my first 2 ever foster dogs. I saw a Facebook post that said they had 3 days left til they would be euthanized, and I knew it was my time to try fostering. There was no way I’d be able to only pick one to save, so both of them ended up at my house just 6 days after my wedding. As crazy as it was for me to have my first foster experience be with two 9-month-old huskies, we survived and so did they. They are now living happy lives- Nala gained a new husky & human sibling here in Utah, and Sarabi has an amazing dog dad & kitty sibling in Washington.
